SureShell™ Shotshell Carriers

Our SureShell™ shotshell carriers were developed in response to requests from law enforcement agencies and armorers for shell carrier solutions that retained ammunition reliably and could withstand the rigors of daily use and abuse. Fabricated from the highest quality materials, they feature an innovative rubber friction retention system and tough construction to endure years of use and abuse. Since their introduction in the spring of 2005, they have rapidly become our best-selling accessories.

Aluminum SureShell carrier yokes are milled from 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum, then bead blasted and mil-spec hard anodized for a rugged non-glare finish. We also offer six-shot SureShell carriers with Verton nylon yokes. Verton is a special long glass fiber composite material that provides much of the strength of aluminum, but for less cost and with lighter weight.

SureShell yokes are secured to application-specific brackets, and include high temperature adhesive-backed die-cut rubber gaskets to protect the host shotgun’s finish.

Receiver Mount SureShell Shotshell Carriers

Most of our SureShell shotshell carriers mount directly to the receiver of leading shotgun platforms.

Mesa Tactical Products

Mesa Tactical specializes in developing and manufacturing professional-grade tactical shotgun accessories. Our flagship product line is our family of telescoping stock adapters and stock kits for pump shotguns. Lately, however, we have become well known for our innovative SureShell on-gun shotshell holders, as well as sling attachment solutions and other accessories.

All our products are designed for the professional operator and fabricated here in Southern California.

Urbino Tactical Stocks

Developed to meet the needs of law enforcement and military operators, the rugged Urbino Tactical stock features a “tactical” 12½ inch length of pull (LoP), Santoprene rubber grip, optional Limbsaver® butt pad, optional adjustable cheek riser and a variety of flexible sling mounting options.

The reduced LoP makes the Urbino the first truly tactical stock for the Benelli shotguns. A shorter stock is necessary for use in tactical applications, especially with body armor. The Urbino Tactical stock is durable, easy to shoulder and will not slip.

The Urbino Tactical stock is also comfortable, thus reducing operator fatigue, especially during prolonged training and qualification sessions. The Santoprene grip is padded at the rear to reduce recoil impact against the web of the operator’s hand, and the optional Limbsaver buttpad substantially reduces felt recoil.

The field-adjustable cheek riser was developed to provide superior cheek weld when using optics. The cheekpiece snaps onto rails molded into the sides of specially equipped Urbino stock armatures. In the event of optics failure, the cheek riser can be quickly removed or readjusted to a lower level. Specially-developed SureShell™ shotshell carriers can be fitted to the cheek riser.

While rail-equipped Urbino stocks can be used without the cheekpiece, cheek risers cannot be fitted to stocks that do not have the rails.

All Urbino Tactical stocks are made in the USA, and include Benelli-style rear sling loops for 1¼ inch sling webbing. In addition, a hole at the lower rear of the stock accepts QD style sling swivels (not included). Urbino Tactical stocks can also be fitted with any of a variety of optional steel pocket sling mounts similar to those offered for our Remington telescoping stock adapters.

Remington

Mesa Tactical offers two methods for mounting SureShell shotshell carriers to Remington 870, Remington 1100 and Remington 11-87 shotguns. Our traditional side mount SureShell carriers attach via flat aluminum brackets to the sides of the shotgun receiver. We also offer unique saddle rail SureShell carriers that combine a shell carrier with a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail that accepts optical sights.

Side mount

The receiver mounting scheme of our Receiver Mount shotgun SureShell shotshell carriers for the Remington 870/1100/11-87 depends on steel fasteners threaded into steel pins for more secure attachment to the shotgun. The mounting plate even features a window over the shotgun serial number location, to make it easier for armorers to inventory their weapons.

Saddle rails

Mesa Tactical Saddle Rails comprise aluminum brackets that wrap around the top of the shotgun receiver. The factory trigger pins are replaced by internally thread steel pins, to which both sides of the saddle rail are securely bolted. SureShell Saddle Rails feature a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny sight rail along the top, and a four-, six- or eight-shot SureShell shotshell carrier yoke on the left side of the receiver.

Mossberg

The receiver mounting scheme of our receiver mount shotgun SureShell shotshell carriers for the Mossberg 500/590 substitutes a steel bolt for the trigger pin retained in place by a black oxide plated acorn nut. At the front of the mounting plate, custom retaining steel hardware is used with an elongated extractor screw and a machined key hole In the plate. The mounting plate was designed not to obscure the receiver serial number to make it easier for armorers to inventory their weapons.

SureShell shotshell carriers for the Mossberg fit on the left side of the receiver only. You must use a tactical forend that does not significantly overlap the receiver, or a factory forend that is cut down appropriately. SureFire forends will work fine with no alterations.

Benelli

While the Benelli M2 Tactical semi-automatic shotgun features factory-tapped rail mounting holes in the top of the receiver, the Benelli M4 and M1014 are shipped with a top Picatinny sight rail. These provided us with an opportunity to develop SureShell shotshell carrier mounting solutions for the Benellis that are streamlined and very robust.

Receiver mount SureShell shotshell carriers for these Benellis feature mounting brackets with integral top Picatinny sight rails. These brackets are secured to the weapon using the top mounting screw holes. The SureShell shotshell carriers are thus slung on the left side of the receiver, securely fastened at the top. No other shell carrier mounting method is as secure or looks as good. These SureShell shotshell carriers can be installed on Benelli M1 shotguns by tapping the top of the shotgun receiver with #8-40 threads. Consult a gunsmith.

Because of the success of we’ve had with the SureShell shell carriers with the integrated Picatinny rail we also developed a similar series for Benelli’s new Super Nova pump shotgun. They are manufactured to the same precise standards as the Ones for the M4 and 1014 semi-autos shown above.

We recently released a new side mount Sureshell shotshell carrier for the Benelli M1 and M2 semi-auto tactical shotguns, which do not include the integral Picatinny rail as shown on the above saddle rail versions. This new version uses a contured back plate, which allows the shell carrier to be held snuggly in place with a single bolt.

Our Stock Mount SureShell carriers fit on Benelli pistol grip fixed stocks. The rugged stamped steel SureShell bracket replaces the stock’s sling loop and mounts four additional shells securely on the side of the stock.
